Other arrivers

Another intriguing strand in the story of the Murrells has Old Bob's wife, Elizabeth Anderson, arriving at Bluff some short time after Old Bob. IThe version recounted has her being what would now be considered a 'mail-order' bride. Again, documentary evidence is hard to come by, and this story stands in contradiction to evidence suggesting they may have been married in Australia, and perhaps a decade before they arrived in New Zealand.

Similarly, the date and location of the arrival of the putative companion, James Scott, and his wife Elizabeth Looly is not known. But there presence in New Zealand is important to the Murrell story, as their daughter, Margaret, was to become the wife of Young Bob. What is known about them is that Scott may have came from Gallow Tree Lane, Leicester.
